Kevin Scott Edwards is a military veteran and mental health consumer who was diagnosed with a co-occurring disorder in 1994. For 15 years Kevin utilized rehabilitation programs and community outreach organizations to secure a recovery lifestyle that focuses on pro advocacy.
Kevin serves as an active member of NIMH (National Institute of Mental Health), Goodwill Industries, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), FACES & VOICES of RECOVERY, is the founder and former Chairperson for the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital Veterans Advisory Council, Florida State Advisory Council on Jail Diversion and Trauma Recovery-Priority to Veterans, the Central Florida Behavioral Health Network Board of Directors and the Advisory Board of Community Housing Solutions, Inc.
Kevin’s volunteer work began with the Salvation Army’s Borden Avenue Veterans Residence in Long Island City, NY when he became homeless for the first time. He currently volunteers at a homeless veterans emergency bed program, the VA hospital in Tampa, FL, a local food pantry and a number of grass roots organizations doing homeless outreach.
