Ruth Hurtado-Day started her career with SAMHSA in August of 2000 after completing an internship with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) in the Division of Pharmacologic Therapies (DPT). In DPT Ruth was responsible for the certification and accreditation process of over 1000 Opiod Treatment Programs. She served as a liason between SAMHSA, the State and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). During her time in DPT she also lead the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment's (CSAT) Hispanic Workgroup. In 2005 Ruth joined the Co-Occurring and Homeless Activities Branch (CHAB) where she manages a portfolio of Treatment for Homeless grantees. Ruth received her Bachelor's degree from Hood College in May 2000, and her Masters in Health Care Administration from the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) in May 2007.
