Evidence-based Treatment for Children in Child Welfare
Description:
Many children in the child welfare system exhibit behaviors or social competency problems warranting mental health care. Studies of children in foster care suggest at least 50% meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis. Often, these difficulties are related to trauma they have experienced. This paper presents a review of the research evidence for trauma-focused interventions for children and adolescents. The goal is to provide guidance about effective strategies for addressing emotional and behavioral problems associated with trauma. (Authors)
