The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA), previously the National Depressive and Manic Depressive Association (NDMDA), is a nonprofit organization established to educate patients, families, professionals, and the public concerning the nature and management of these treatable disorders. The group also works to foster self-help for patients and families, eliminate discrimination and stigma, and improve access to care. The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance has self-help chapters around the country, sponsors an annual national convention, publishes literature regarding depression and manic-depression, and advocates for research to eliminate these disorders. Chapter membership is available.
