You are often so busy taking care of others, it is important to check in with yourself, reevaluate, slow down, focus on you, and be in the moment.
As providers of direct services, we can often lose ourselves in our work. Working in direct service puts demands on our time, but also our emotions. Part of our everyday work is to be empathetic to the experiences and lives of others. Over time, this can become emotionally draining if you don't take care of yourself.

Take a moment out of the day to stretch, breathe, and refocus your perspective. The work that we do is important and valuable - but it can't be at the expense of our spirit and energy.

Take a look at the "Related Resources" to the right of the screen. There you will find articles about vicarious trauma and stress management. Also check out some self-care techniques to make sure you stay energized and motivated to continue working.
