The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is the Federal agency that funds and supports over 90 percent of the research on alcohol abuse and addiction in the United States. This includes research support for investigators who examine alcohol-related problems and issues among persons who are homeless. (NIAAA)
