Reprinted from the Spring 2004 edition of The Source, a publication of The National Abandoned Infants Assistance Resource Center, this monograph describes how Beyond Shelter's methodology for the promising practice of Housing First has been used for families affected by substance abuse. It involves a three-step process: Intake, screening, and needs assessments, locating housing resources and relocation assistance, and time-limited, home-based case management.
