The complex circumstances that lead to the incarceration of women require coordinated multi-agency solution. Mental health, substance abuse and trauma treatment as well as housing, entitlements, vocational and educational services, are critical elements in successful re-entry programming. In addition, detainees who are mothers and require special supports for themselves and their children. Beginning with the multi-agency desire to serve this population, the solution lies in coordinated systems of care. Partnerships between corrections and community are vital to successful reentry.
