In the aftermath of a disaster event, both immediate and long term needs of affected individuals must be met. Mental illness and substance use issues are included in the needs that should be assessed. This Fact Sheet was developed to assist in understanding the special and sometimes complex needs of persons with co-occurring disorders. (authors)
