This article describes Thresholds’ Grais Apartments, a long-term residential program that serves persons with severe mental illness and a co-occurring substance use disorder who have a history of homelessness. The Grais model applies principles of integrated dual disorders treatment, an evidence-based practice for persons with co-occurring disorders, to a long-term residential treatment setting.
