Having consumers assume the roles of providers is a new direction in service provision, which has culminated in the fields of substance abuse, mental health and homeless services. Utilizing their experiential knowledge is a way to develop relationships and foster trust with current consumers of services, but also to assist in the development of meaning in the lives of consumers.
