Social surveys of specific geographic regions and various demographic characteristics within The City of Calgary have been very popular and useful in providing information for community program planning. However, most of them captured only parts of the city. Due to the rapid growth of the city, a Comprehensive Community Assessment Survey was conducted to respond to the growing need for community assessment information on a city-wide basis. Its outcomes are applicable to a wide range of planning and development issues. HarGroup Management Consultants Inc. was contracted to perform the survey. This report provides a summary of the community needs assessment survey on a city-wide perspective. The first part of the report focuses on community and individual wellness, followed by issues of concern. The third and fourth part of this report inform about the use, perceived need and estimated total demand for community facilities, programs and services. A comparison between the survey’s respondent profile with census data will complete the report.
