The State of Health Insurance in California: Findings From the 2001 California Health Interview Survey
Description:
This report examines health insurance coverage in California based on CHIS 2001 data. CHIS 2001 provides new time frames and a rich source of data with which to better understand health insurance coverage and the lack of coverage for California’s diverse population, both statewide and at the local level. CHIS covers a broad range of public health concerns, including health status and conditions, health-related behaviors, health insurance coverage, and access to health care services. To make CHIS more inclusive and to capture the rich diversity of the California population, the questionnaires were translated and interviews were conducted in six languages: English, Spanish, and four Asian languages. The data provide a level of detail and precision never before available to describe and understand health insurance and uninsurance within California. (Authors)
