I"m delighted that this model has been useful. Please do check the SOAR website periodically as we continue to update things there. The website is www.prainc.com/soar We just recently added an entire sample application that is under the trainers only section to help folks assemble a comprehensive application. In addition, you can e-mail the SOAR website with any questions, and we'll respond asap. Yvonne

Hey Virginia, they just updated their website, so we probably need to update our link - their direct website to access the SOAR and Stepping Stones materials is www.prainc.com/SOAR - SarahPaige

Katina - Kevin is talking about SOAR - SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery and the companion training guide, Stepping Stones to Recovery. It helps case managers like yourself have the skills, knowledge, and community partner support to help individuals especially those who are experiencing homelessness and mental illness obtain their SSI/SSDI benefits. The training really helps to de-mystify the Social Security approval process, but if you can't get to a training, you can get to the link for the case managers manual, Stepping Stones to Recovery on this website by entering “stepping stones” in the search box at the top of this page.

I went through the training in April 08 and by July, I had my first case ruled favorable. This methodology really works and establishes a rapport with SSA employees as well as homeless consumers in need of resources.
